Ronald D. Pearson : CONSCIOUSNESS AS A SUB-QUANTUM PHENOMENON

Summary

Two major problems in cosmology are addressed and solutions given. One is the result of the failure of theorists to find a way of switching off the explosive 'big bang' of creation they postulate. The continued explosion is then called the 'cosmological constant' pushing the galaxies apart at absurdly high rates. The other is the failure of all attempts to reconcile Einstein's theory of gravity called, 'general relativity' with the other so-called 'pillar of 20th century achievement' - quantum theory. The latter deals with the small-scale mechanics of the atom.
The solution published in 'Frontier Perspectives' showed that a background medium needs to exist built on two kinds of energy: positive and negative. The negative kind is defined as having the force needed to accelerate an object pointing opposite the direction of motion it produces, instead of the same direction as in the case of positive energy. This idea is not new but the way it is applied is novel. Primary particles of these two kinds are shown to self-create by collision and also mutually annihilate to form a filamentous background structure appearing very like the neural network of the brain. It evolves an immortal conscious intelligence but all it can do is to produce waves to generate the illusion of matter out of itself and at the same time the same waves produce long range density gradients. These produce the force of gravity and mathematical analysis matches the predictions of Einstein's relativity theories. The latter need therefore to be abandoned: nobody is ever going to reconcile them with quantum theory because no background medium can co-exist with relativity.
However, the new approach suggests that human minds could be partitioned-off fractions of the background, 'etheric mind' and so could be immortal. Most other psi or paranormal phenomena can also be shown to fit in nicely with the new solution.

This article was published in the scientific journal Frontier Perspectives, Volume 6, Number 2 (Spring/Summer 1997) (The Center for Frontier Sciences at Temple University, USA) It shows how the subject of survival is related to creation, and provides a solution to the gravity problem.

CONSCIOUSNESS AS A SUB-QUANTUM PHENOMENON

Ronald D. Pearson

Abstract

A sub-quantum level of reality, to be called the "nuether", is described which results from applying the two conservation laws of energy and momentum. A new creation/annihilation mechanism then appears having a self-organising property and leading to a brain-like structure. This could evolve a primary consciousness within the nuether, which could then generate the quantum waves to produce what we call, "sub-atomic particles", together with the force of gravity. A solution to the enigma called, "wave particle duality" has therefore appeared naturally and is entirely free from paradox. In this way the nuether seems able to generate the quantum world: the base on which all matter rests. Physics is also extended to include phenomena, like psychokinesis, presently regarded as "paranormal".

Introduction

The notion of a sub-quantum phenomenon contradicts the current reductionist view that mind is just brain-function. However, even as early as 1989, Sir Roger Penrose appears to have disagreed with this contention(1). Penrose, together with Stuart Hameroff, offered an approach they define as "panpsychism" as described in this journal(2). This view includes a "stable self-organising structure," but unlike the views to be presented here, theirs does not refer to a sub-quantum medium.
This panpsychism is a significant paradigm shift because, to the extent that most physicists think about "mind" at all, they regard it materialistically as mere brain function. Some treat paranormal phenomena more as threats to their own credibility, rather than as anomalies to be investigated experimentally. In this paper I consider paranormal to be phenomena outside the scope of physics.
Another difficulty is presented by the enigma called, wave-particle duality. A number of small holes can be made in a barrier to be bombarded with any kind of sub-atomic particle. The intensity can be arranged so low that the particles pass through the holes only one at a time. Although one particle can only go through one hole, it subsequently behaves as if it had gone through all holes at once. It behaves like sets of waves, emerging from every hole simultaneously to produce an interference pattern, the signature of wave effects. Young's two slit experiment, illustrated in Figure 4, shows such interference patterns moving towards a screen where they produce a pattern of light and dark bands. These are due to waves in phase adding by constructive interference whilst those out of phase subtract.
Very early de Broglie was the first to propose that all particles have a wavelike nature. He also suggested that pilot waves guided sub-atomic particles, and published many papers and several books from 1952 onwards in attempts to show how quantum waves could be generated. Bohm in 1980 proposed an implicate order with "hidden variables" underlying quantum theory(3), and I. Vigier together with several others did similar work. Mainstream physics, however, makes no serious attempt to show how matter is organised by its quantum waves or to show how quantum waves are generated. The very question of whether quantum waves are real phenomena or merely abstract artifacts is shunned as metaphysical or non-scientific.
The pilot wave concept could not explain all observations and so, unfortunately, it was displaced by the Copenhagan interpretation. This assumed all possibilities existed in superposition as unresolved wave-functions until observed; then these collapsed into the reality of particles. At least this view acknowledged that matter was controlled in some way by a consciousness, but in 1957 Everett's many universes interpretation appeared. This seems not to depend on consciousness but instead requires an infinite number of matter-systems in superposition. The present explanation arises naturally from the logic to be described and is much closer to de Broglie's early concepts.
These concepts required the existence of a background medium for the propagation of waves. Notable theorists in more recent times have sought to reintroduce modified concepts of the old rigid ether, discredited by the failure of attempts made a century ago by Michelson and Morley to measure the speed of the Earth through such a medium. John Archibald Wheeler, for example, published ideas for a "sub-quantal" medium in a theory in collaboration with Professor Richard Feynman(4). Mathematical descriptions for terms like "pre-space", "wormholes" and "quantum foam" were proposed as underlying both space and matter.
These ideas are not yet accepted as part of mainstream physics, however, probably because the model seems presently to be untestable by experiment. An encouraging feature of the present formulation is that it suggests ideas for several experiments by which it could be tested. For example, this formulation is consistent with a fluid medium, the nuether, traveling with the Earth in a vortex motion centered on the Sun. An updated Michelson-Morley interferometer, such as that used by Brillett and Hall and, flown in low Earth orbit(5), ought to give fringe shifts consistent with its relative velocity through the nuether, thereby confirming its existence. Indeed these researchers, in 1979, obtained fringe shifts which Aspden interpreted as indicating a speed of 355 m/s -within 3% of the spin velocity of the Earth at the latitude of test(6). This result already supports the vortex model.
The present hypothesis evolved from an attempt to solve the problem of quantum gravitation published in 1990(7). A summary appeared in the proceedings of a Russian conference of 1991(8) and was followed by another publication in 1992(9). The latter also gives in its appendix a full mathematical treatment of the structure of the nuether to be described. A mathematical treatment showing the link with gravitation was also included in the proceedings of the Sir Isaac Newton conference of 1993(10).
The new approach offers a reason for the way matter is organised by quantum waves and shows how such phenomena could arise. No changes to quantum theory are required, however, except where gravitation is concerned. It has also very recently been found that relativity theory can be integrated without paradox. Hence existing theory is supplemented by providing a real basis for supporting its abstract concepts.

Origin of an Alternative Approach

The impetus for this approach was an article by Professor Tryon in which the mass-energy of matter was balanced against "negative gravitational potential energy."(11) The mass-energy, however, would remain when matter had expanded to infinite distance, but here the gravitational energy was defined as zero. To resolve this puzzle one might adduce the ideas of Gibbons, Hawking and Siklos(12) & Novikov(13) who attributed a high energy-density balanced by an "intrinsic negative pressure of the vacuum".
These ideas were all part of the established big-bang theory in which the universe of matter arose simultaneously with space in a minute fraction of a second. A direct consequence was the emergence of an apparently insoluble problem of the cosmological constant, which predicted that all galaxies would be moving apart with accelerations fifty orders of magnitude greater than astronomical observations could allow. This value is not to be confused with the cosmological constant originated by Einstein. His gravitational theory showed that the galaxies had to be accelerating relative to our own, a prediction which was contrary to accepted opinion. He then added an artificial constant to make them appear stationary. Later he admitted that this was his worst mistake. An associated problem, which had troubled theorists for more than fifty years, was the incompatibility of general relativity with the quantum approach.
The specialist knowledge of the engineer in thermodynamics and mechanics might help resolve these problems. An attempt to produce a paradox-free theory of quantum gravitation is mounted here such that such a force of attraction could not be modeled without the re-introduction of negative energy states. Such states had first been proposed by a physicist, Paul Dirac(14) in the 30's but were then rejected and are now regarded as non-physical. However, the reasons used for rejection are not applicable in the present context. For example, one argument says that electrons in negative states must fall indefinitely to infinite negative values: but in the present theory no electrons can exist in negative states. Such states will be confined to the sub-quantum level where none of the four forces of nature exist. Furthermore, at the quantum and higher levels only a net positive energy will be evident. A balance of both positive and negative states needs to exist at the sub-quantum level only, in such a way that a positive excess appeared for building matter, yet left a negative excess to produce the force of gravity.
The meaning of these energy states is best understood by considering an object accelerated by the application of a force. Any object, even when stationary, can be considered as being constructed from energy, rest-energy to be precise, since mass and energy are known to be equivalent to one another. An object made of positive rest-energy will accelerate in the direction of the applied force while one of negative rest-energy will accelerate in the reverse direction. This relationship may seem impossible at first sight but forces of action are always balanced by opposing forces of reaction, and an alternative set of mechanics can be set out with these forces reversed. These mechanics give exactly the same responses when all other objects are considered as made of negative energy.(15) Motion adds kinetic energy of the same origin in either case.
A background medium, therefore, to exist which consists of a mixture of both positive and negative energy states. This medium cannot be a continuum since the two states would cancel each other. So the energy states must be considered to exist as an intimate mixture of two kinds of complementary particle, to be called "primaries". All particles will move at high speed to repeatedly collide and so form a seething mass in the manner of a gas-like fluid. This is the primordial nuether whose intricate structure has yet to be described.

A New Creative Mechanism

Half of all collisions will be between primaries of like kind: either positive to positive or negative to negative. In either case they will bounce away like billiard balls obeying two basic laws of physics: the conservation of energy and the conseration of momentum. While energy is the basic material of both matter and the motion of that matter (kinetic energy), momentum is a property of matter. The momentum of an object is obtained by multiplying its mass by its velocity (the meaning of its conservation is explained in the appendix). On this basis alone both phases of the fluid, positive and negative, would neither gain nor lose energy.
The remaining half of all collisions will be between pairs, one of each kind. Then the same two laws of momentum and energy, when applied together, result in the prediction of a balanced increase of both energies at each collision. This increase is explained by Figure 1, which shows how pure energy creation or destruction can now occur without violation of the laws of physics. The first law of thermodynamics now appears as a special case of a more general law, which whould read, "Energy can only be created or destroyed in equal and opposite amounts." This breeding effect implies that the zero state is unstable, and once triggered, the sub-quantum background fluid is committed to eternal growth. The nuether has to exist as a sphere whose radius will increase indefinitely.
An expanding universe is predicted with galaxies receding at speeds proportional to their distance from us, as the astronomer Hubble was the first to observe. A theory free from the false prediction of the "cosmological constant" emerges, for which established cosmology can offer no acceptable solution, as shown by Abbott(16). Some other process needs to exist, however, to eliminate most of the pure creation generated, because it is many orders of magnitude greater than observation can allow. The solution appears naturally.
When large numbers of both kinds of primary approach a point from all directions the net growth rate is drastically reduced because the net momentum at such a point now cancels to zero, thus causing the same laws of physics to favour mutual annihilation. Flow patterns spontaneously form, as shown in Figure 2, in which pure creation drives primaries toward centres of annihilation. Cylindrical symmetry is favoured over the alternative spherical kind because the cusp-shaped voids between packed spheres are about three times greater than for packed cylinders. These are not voids; they are breeding zones creating whisker-like projections, which enable a flip to the most stable configuration. The result is the spontaneous formation of permanent filaments of both kinds of energy at the centres of every breeding cell. Filaments are not material objects; they are primaries in the act of squeezing each other out of existence and are really flow patterns in the liquid state. They tend to form into honeycomb-like arrays, shown in cross-section in Figure 2. Being of incredibly fine spacing, many thousands would lie side by side within the compass of each tiny electron. These filaments must not be confused with elements of the "string theories" of mainstream physics, which are described in higher curved dimensions with the eleventh providing the source of creation. Some are compacted into little balls so that only the strings poke out into the four space-time dimensions we observe.
The present theory is written in only these four space-time dimensions and is based entirely on Euclidean geometry. However, string theories are not ruled out since the strings could be higher order constructs: not the filaments themselves. It is possible that the higher dimensional mathematics do not represent reality and that the nuether employs similar mathematical constructs, which are then discarded, in the way that mathematicians use imaginary numbers and then discard the imaginary parts of the final solution.
At larger scales bundles of the arrays of filament-containing cells will criss-cross in all directions as shown in Figure 3. It requires no mathematical formalism to see that, as a consequence of such random geometry, each filament will terminate at both ends in a tee-junction with some other filament that crosses its path. Due to the sharing of imploding flows near junctions a local thinning of filaments will result. The junctions, therefore, are weak points which can easily break. They can exist in bistable states: either open or closed.
In the open state any asymmetry causes an energy imbalance to build up, caused by rectification of random fluctuations occurring in the surrounding region. When some shock causes closure, an energy discharge will occur and the resulting flow can provide the shock needed to cause a change in state of other nearby junctions. So waves of switching action will arise spontaneously: these could be the quantum waves: the core feature of quantum theory. Furthermore, all the ingredients are present from which a working neural network could evolve and could ultimately yield a primary consciousness.
The network or grid, now defining the "nuether" and represented symbolically by a rectangular mesh in Figures 3, 5, and 6, would interconnect everything in the universe. As yet, however, no universe of matter could exist. Spontaneous creation of the nuether had to occur first, followed by evolution of its consciousness, since on this model matter would require deliberate design.
The only tools available for the creation of matter would be the quantum waves, organised by the computing ability of the network. Waves could be focused by such computer control, so they implode to a central point after originating from a spherical shell of the grid. Humps of energy density will appear around any focus because wave-action will create more collisions and so stimulate an excess of creation. No violation of the second law of thermodynamics is involved here because, at the sub-quantum level, pure energy creation is driving a flux of primaries, a minute fraction being intercepted continuously to produce energy imbalances in the filaments. An immense power source is available everywhere to drive the universe. In this way the tendency toward greater disorder, represented by increase of entropy, is counteracted.
These humps will serve as the elementary sub-atomic particles, which can be generated in a state of motion and, grouped by the organising power of wave interference patterns (an example is shown in Figure 4) will form up into complete atoms, molecules and crystals, as shown in Figure 5. It should be noted that the atomic nuclei are shown on a cubic lattice but it is tilted so that it is not confused with the grid symbolism, also shown, and which underlies everything.
It is known that the probability of an electron being at any point, within a space known as an "orbital" centred on the atomic nucleus, is defined by the wave-interference model of Schrödinger. It seems plausible that the huge energy input needed to maintain a particle prevents its being located for long at a given place. Then the quantum wave focus will need to be shifted abruptly to another spot to allow the local grid to recover. Hence an electron will appear as a particle-sequence joined end-to-end in time but not in position. It will seem to jump about at random within the orbital to fill the available space but at each reconstruction it will be in motion. If it hits another particle, like a photon, during its life, then its energy-density hump will behave like a particle.
In this way a plausible explanation for the vexed question of particle-duality arises naturally from the present theory. It seems free from the paradoxes and other difficulties which appear with previous interpretations. Spherical waves imploding toward a focus will cross-over to travel away afterwards, ultimately to infinite distance. As they go, further creation will be stimulated, though at an ever decreasing rate. Combined with the waves making other humps, long range energy density gradients will form which will be greatest close to large concentrations of matter.
The author's theory of quantum gravitation depends entirely on associated pressure gradients, which due to the asymmetry already described, makes the net pressure gradients negative. (See pp 286-290 in Pearson(17) and note that the wrong asymmetry was assumed. An up to date edition is in preparation.) There is now a real force of gravity, as formulated in the author's paper(18), generated as one of negative buoyancy by the resulting gradients of excess negative pressure. Furthermore the excess positive rest energy is available everywhere to become concentrated to form the sub-atomic particles of positive matter by wave-focusing(19).
An overall representation of the nuether generating the force of gravity on a particle is given in Figure 7. The graph 7b is a plot of energy density e for the nuether against radius R from the center of a concentration of matter marked "Attractor". Quantum waves radiating from this mass enhance creation and annihilation causing the energy density of both phases to fall off with radius. The positive phase has a greater rest energy density eo+ than the negative phase eo- so that the negative kinetic energy ek- is the greater. These net values are also shown.
In Figure 7a a spherical-radial mode of vibration is indicated as produced by quantum-wave focusing; its amplitude is indicated as number-density concentration n/ni where suffix i represents the initial state. Excess creation increases all local time-averaged energy densities at radius R, including the net values as shown in Figure 7b. The net negative pressure, shown at Figure 7d, is also amplified, being equal to ek-/3. In fact this means an extra life will be produced in trapped positive primaries to fill this depression, thus enhancing the amplification to produce a particle of dominant positive rest-energy. Filaments increase in radius when the creation rate is increased(20), and it is this increase together with the local negative pressure gradient which produces the gravitational force, as illustrated in Figure 7c.
The asymmetry in these energies is also exactly that needed to power the neural network. Without this asymmetry, open junctions cannot build up the required energy imbalances. Hence a unified description of the universe of matter has emerged together with its formative mechanism.

Physics Now Explains the "Paranormal"

The reason for creation of matter can now be deduced. The creation of matter is needed to provide the primary mind with a set of meaningful environments. Figure 6 illustrates the possible overall structure of these environments. The primary mind exists as a myriad of conscious regions, or minds, of small volume interconnected by a vast machine-like net. The minds possess a sense of morality, the remaining network is amoral. Each mind is split into an individual conscious part and a subconscious part, the latter interconnecting with all others. The separation is provided by an "information filter-barrier", programmed as an enclosing shell, which prevents communication from the subconscious but permits flow of information in the reverse direction.
In this way the whole can be enriched by individual experience. Each mind can, however, only receive information via sense organs, such as eyes, which record photons reflected from objects made of matter. The environment of matter will then appear as the only reality and will enable all incarnate minds to relate to one another in meaningful ways, by cooperation and competition, to help them develop.
The paranormal now fits neatly into physics. Out-of-body experiences are occasions when the mind goes temporarily out of register with the brain, the latter most probably being merely an interfacing mechanism for operating the muscles and other control systems of the body. This means that the mind has the potential to be immortal: so backing up the claims for survival made by most religions. Psycho-kinesis is readily explained. The programmed nuether is structuring matter and direct mind-control is normally inhibited. Under certain conditions the inhibition routine is partially bypassed. A similar explanation for telepathy appears. Controlled leaks in the information filter-barriers are responsible for the interconnection of minds directly via the filamentous structure of the nuether.
Most other aspects of the paranormal can, in similar manner, be provided with rational explanations, showing them to have the potential to be real effects. More complete descriptions, covering almost the entire spectrum of the paranormal together with examples based on direct experience, can be found in the popular sections of the author's books(21). These both have mathematical appendices, the former dealing with the "Extended Newtonian" theory of quantum gravitation and the latter dealing with pure creation/annihilation processes and resulting filament theory.

Conclusions

A grand unification seems possible starting from the ultimate in simplicity: a universe dependent on only two complementary forms of kinetic energy and existing as primary particles, the only true particles in existence. More energy is locked up in spin, to be exhibited as rest energy, in the positive primaries than in their negative partners and causes a fraction of the pure creation proceeding at a hyper-astronomical rate everywhere to power the universe. This view originated from a new theory of quantum gravitation which predicted the existence of a background medium, the nuether, structured like a neural network. This theory can explain creation of a universe of matter by the use of intelligently organised quantum-waves. Their mode of computation could use a relativistic basis, so permitting relativity to coexist with the nuether - the conflict now vanishes! A plausible interpretation for "wave-particle duality" appeared naturally and the theory also showed physics could be extended to incorporate the paranormal. The human mind cannot be mere brain function. The brain may or may not be a conscious entity. What seems certain, however, is that it connects with a primary consciousness which exists as part of the structure of the nuether and could be immortal. Since immortality is the basis of all religious belief, it now seems possible that a new unity may emerge in which science can be turned round to provide faith with support. Existing schisms could soon heal with global benefit.

Appendix

Momentum is a property of matter given by the product of the mass and velocity vector of any object. The direction of motion is important as well as the speed, and the term "velocity" contains both factors. The momentum vector is often represented by an arrow pointing in the direction of motion and having a length proportional to mass multiplied by speed.
This defines the "momentum vector". It has been observed that, in any collision, the vector sum of the momenta of all interacting particles always remains constant: hence the law of conservation of momentum. This is true whatever arbitrary frame of reference is taken for analysis. The "components" of the momentum arrows, which point in the direction of this frame of reference, are used with one direction representing positive momentum and with the reverse direction regarded as negative (the choice of positive direction is purely arbitrary).
In quantum theory forces of repulsion are modeled by so-called gauge particles which act as mediators of the electromagnetic force. These are emitted from sub-atomic particles so that the latter recoil to balance the momentum imparted to the mediator. This momentum is transferred to another sub-atomic particle by absorption of the mediator, so that the latter bounces away.
The same model is used to represent forces of attraction but now resort is made to a stratagem called the "negative coupling" to reverse the direction of motion of the sub-atomic particles in mathematical equations. Clearly a violation of the law of conservation of momentum is involved and cannot be tolerated if freedom from paradox is to be attained.
The only solution has to assume the mediator of attractive force to be a carrier of negative momentum; the arrow representing the momentum vector needs to point backwards i.e. opposite the direction of motion. This means that the mass and energy of the mediator need to be considered as negative. This is why the nuether needs to contain negative as well as positive states.
PURE CREATION can be explained from Figure 1 without using mathematics though a full mathematical analysis is given by the author(19). Case A shows a positive primary of velocity u1 with its momentum vector P+ in head-on collision with one of negative energy moving in the opposite direction with velocity v1. The latter carries negative momentum P- so this points in opposite direction to its velocity. The two vectors add up whereas for billiard balls of positive energy in collision they could cancel to zero. Hence very different end results will arise. For case A the only solution is for the particles to pass through each other without change of either momentum or energy: it is impossible for any mutual annihilation to occur.
Now consider the offset collision of case B. A transverse component of impulse is added due to the glancing impact and acts on each primary. To conserve momentum in this direction the negative momentum PT- imparted to one must exactly cancel the positive one PT+ imparted to the other, as shown at C. Then, as shown at D, this means that both particles are deflected in the same transverse sense.
The longitudinal momenta, however, still add up and the associated energies are still unable to change. Extra energies are associated with the transverse additions and so, for glancing collisions, each primary must gain energy of its own kind. The gains, however, sum to zero so that, overall, there is no violation of the (modified) law of energy conservation.

Interview with Ron Pearson

Interview with Ron Pearson

Ron Pearson was interviewed in September 2001. Below is a transcript of selected parts of that interview.

Since physics is not your discipline, how did you get involved in trying to relate survival of consciousness to physics?
Reading cosmology physics of all things. I spotted some alarming logical errors in the Big Bang theory which should have been spotted by the assessors. I could not therefore understand why the hypothesis had been accepted for publication. I tried to publish critiques but all were rejected. Mostly the rejection letters also showed the assessors lacked a grounding in basic principles. I just went on from there.
How could that lead to the theory of survival?
I realised that some basic grounding had been lost in the teaching of physics and thought I could help to put the theorists back on track. This turned me on to looking at other aspects of physics. The solution to some major problems appeared and these showed that consciousness had to be part of an invisible background medium. This meant it could not be mere brain function postulated by almost every scientist: consciousness had to be a construct of an invisible background medium with the potential to be immortal.
What made you think the physics might be wrong?
Flaws in the logic of the Big Bang also led to false predictions. The worst is known as "The Cosmological Constant". They say that all the matter and energy in the universe appeared from nothing in a blinding flash of creation. But they can find no way of switching off the creative explosion they invented, so this goes on still pushing the galaxies apart at rates billions upon billions of times greater than they know is remotely possible. In my opinion the theory should never have passed peer review until this had been sorted out.
Well how do the theorists deal with this difficulty?
Very simply. They just ignore it altogether even though it totally destroys the validity of all the scenarios they present, including the age of the universe. This they estimate as 12 billion years. It also gives other headaches. For instance astronomers say some stars seem older than the universe.
That seems a remarkable indictment which I think you need to substantiate. I find it difficult to believe that the entire scientific community would condone the acceptance of things which do not even make sense: even to a non-scientist.
I agree. But these problems are still baffling cosmologists. For proof look at a book by Brian Green published in 1999 about the latest craze, "superstrings", expected to provide the physicists holy grail, the theory of everything. The book is called, "The Elegant Universe", written as a popularisation to boost enthusiasm for this theory. It admits on page 225 that the theory is unable to solve the problem of the cosmological constant. He also admits on page 211 that the theory cannot yet provide a single valid prediction able to confront the data followed by, "Is string theory right? We just don't know."
Well that just shows how difficult are the problems they face and maybe you should be praising their courage in tackling them rather than pulling them down.
The last thing I am trying to do is to pull them down. I greatly admire their mathematical expertise. I could see, however, from my own background, that they had lost a vital bit of understanding. I could see what they are doing wrong and wanted to help them back on track.
And could you do that?
The solution which appeared from a commonsense approach, only requiring relatively unsophisticated mathematics had provided a solution to both problems by 1987.
Then why are they still looking for answers?
Because they are running a closed shop and will not allow anyone from allied disciplines to publish critiques of their work or any solutions to their problems. Consequently theorists are still searching in vain for solutions by inappropriate sophisticated mathematics when perfectly satisfactory solutions have existed for years. If you find this hard to believe then visit the website of Dr. Brian Martin which is:
He is a physicist who has become so disillusioned by the suppressions by his own colleagues that he switched to a study supported by the "Fund for Intellectual Dissent", Box U129 Wollongong University. NSW 2500, Australia. He also says in his book called "Suppression" that there is no hope of publication in any scientific journal unless one has a Ph.D. in physics and writes from a prestigious address, such as a university.
Does that mean you have not achieved a single publication to prove that your work is not all wrong?
No, but I was forced to go to Russia to seek freedom of expression. I had a solution to the gravity problem published in the proceedings of the scientific conference in Russia dated 1991, another concerning the intelligence of the background medium in their proceedings of 1993 and finally an 8 page article of mine was published in the scientific journal, "Frontier Perspectives", The Center for Frontier Sciences at Temple University in the USA. It appeared in the Spring/Summer edition of 1997. This was called, "Consciousness as a Sub-Quantum Phenomenon" and so dealt with survival, showing it to be intimately related to creation and a solution to the gravity problem. These were all fully peer-reviewed by physicists and so I consider these justify my contention that the logic is sound.
So now you are bringing gravity into the picture. Why make things so complicated?
Survival is intimately linked to the rest of physics and I found it appeared from a holistic solution which involved several different problems. The other main problem concerned finding a satisfactory theory of gravity compatible with quantum theory.
I thought Einstein had already solved the problem of gravity and that this was fully proven and accepted.
Yes. This is his theory called, "General Relativity". It is fully accepted because it fits in with nearly all the experimental checks made to substantiate its validity. Unfortunately it is incompatible with the existence of any background medium, such as the aether, and something like it has to be accepted to make quantum theory work. In consequence theorists have been stuck for about 70 years trying to match up these two so-called, "pillars of twentieth century achievement". Worse from the viewpoint of survival, relativity blocks the way by not allowing a real background to exist.
How do quantum and relativity theory differ?
Quantum theory explains the fine workings on the small atomic scale of things and is quite different from the large scale mechanics used to describe the motions of large objects. Theorists consider they have all the mechanics of quantum theory tied up nicely for all the forces of nature except gravity. They admit, along with Prof. Stephen Hawking, that these "are inconsistent with one another so one of them must be wrong" (a quote from his book on page 11) but still go on attempting to match them up.
And do you agree with this?
I agree that they can never be fitted together but say that a different approach has to be used. My own expertise of engineering is based on Newton's mechanics, including his equation for the force of gravity. These are not applicable, however, when speeds approach those of light.
I therefore started by revising this mechanics to make it exact and to my surprise and satisfaction started coming out with predictions matching those of Einstein's relativity. In about a year nearly all the experiments made to establish relativity theory were found to satisfy the new approach just as well. The huge advantages, however, were that, unlike relativity, there were no internal contradictions or incompatibility with quantum theory. One reason was this approach required a background medium to exist which I now call the "i-ther" since it differs from that of other people. All speeds are measured from this instead of the observer as in relativity. It seemed to me therefore that this just had to be the solution.
Why does survival come into this?
The solution to creation meant the i-ther had to consist of a mixture of primary particles, I call "primaries" of two kinds. Some were of positive energy with the rest of a negative kind. They were all dashing about at fantastic speeds continually in collision with one another like molecules of a gas to form a seething mass. I don't want to go into technical details about the meaning of positive and negative except to say that this has nothing to do with electric charge. It turned out, however, that when pairs collided a breeding effect occurred so that each gained energy of its own kind from the void. A new mechanism of creation had appeared spontaneously. It then transpired that when many primaries collided from all directions the opposite occurred. Now we have mutual annihilation. The two effects almost cancelled to leave a universe in a state of ever-accelerating expansion. It was not until 1998, however, that this was confirmed by the astronomical observations made of remote supernovas.
The important thing, however, was that the annihilation resulted in the spontaneous formation of a fine grained filamentous network embedded in a fluid of primaries able to flow through the structure. It had all the elements needed from which a type of neural network could evolve. Those made by our scientists have memory and learning capability and so it seemed reasonable to assume that the i-ther could have evolved a primary consciousness. Hence the theory had come out with the prediction that mind must be part of the i-ther: nothing to do with the brain at all.
So now you had diverted from thoughts about the cosmological constant and gravity?
Not at all. The cosmological constant no longer existed so this problem was solved. Also no stars could any longer seem older than the universe since the i-ther now turned out to be indefinitely old. It would have been half the diameter it is now 100 billion years ago, so dwarfing the 12 billion of the Big Bang. But until the i-ther had evolved consciousness, matter and gravity could not exist.
So how do matter and gravity come in?
Both were deliberately created by the conscious intelligence after it had evolved. All it could do, however, was organise the waves, like sound waves in air, which it spontaneously generated. These were the only tools available. So it focused its waves to make transient spikes of density at places organised so that atoms would arise seeming to us like solid objects. As the waves re-expanded moving out, to occupy spheres of ever growing size, they stimulated excess creation leading to a non-uniform density of the i-ther. It was denser the closer to massive objects. The theory of gravity has now become the "quantum wave theory of gravity" since it is entirely dependent on these energy non-uniformities. An important spin off is that a new interpretation for a basic feature of quantum theory had emerged naturally. This is called, "wave-particle duality". Tiny particles behave also as if they are waves and theorists are still puzzling. They usually fall back on the Copenhagen interpretation which has it that everything exists as unresolved waves until observed. Then these collapse into the particles of reality - "The paradox of Schoedinger's cat" highlights its impossibility.
I see now how all these things tie in. We have mind as part of the invisible with matter made from the same stuff. So how do mind and matter relate to each other?
There is this background mind split into fragments by programming information filter-barriers around each. Then each drives its own matter-body via the brain. Then it is easy to see that only matter can be experienced. In this way each sub-mind can gain experience by interacting with other minds only through the intermediary of matter. That matter is all is then experienced as a deliberately contrived illusion.
What happens when we die according to your concept?
Just as our matter systems can be contrived, so can others. These interpenetrate our own just as radio waves all co-exist together. We can only tune into one station at a time and so our minds can similarly only tune in to one matter-system at once. When we slough off our bodies we will therefore find ourselves with another matter overcoat and will be able to experience a different set of physical laws. I call ours a "semi-virtual reality world" because others could be completely virtual. They would build atoms by numbers on a grid alone and without needing to focus real quantum waves.
Now I see how everything fits together and why you had to consider so many aspects. According to this the mind creates matter for its own use. Is that what you are saying and are there any other aspects you think worthy of mention?
Yes. That just about sums up the situation as I see it. There are many other aspects. For example, the quantum wave theory of gravity has thrown up ten new ideas for experiments by which it could be falsified/verified. An interesting speculation is that the gamma ray bursts which are just being found might have an explanation. Nobody has offered one yet to my knowledge. They appear at a rate of about one a day at remote distances but if one occurred anywhere in our galaxy everybody on our planet would be vaporised so the physicists tell us. I think these may well be the births of new galaxies introduced to fill the ever-expanding space. No single big bang could ever have occurred according to this new scenario.

Alex Katsman : PHYSICAL MODEL OF THE PARALLEL ETHEREAL WORLD

PHYSICAL MODEL OF THE PARALLEL ETHEREAL WORLD

Dr Alex Katsman (May, 2004)
At the present time there is a lot of evidence that a certain part of the universe is invisible to us. The most important facts are connected with the survival of a human mind after the physical death of the body. Experimental studies regarding contact with "dead" people were performed by two outstanding scientists, Sir William Crookes [1] and Sir Oliver Lodge [2], over one hundred years ago. Similar experiments were performed by a number of researchers in our time [3]. The first reasonable explanation of the results was apparently suggested by Oliver Lodge: this invisible part of the world operates at higher frequencies than the ones in the world we are able to sense. Many investigators support this idea. However, the theoretical basis regarding such a world is absent. Most authors think of this world as a "spirit" world.
A substantial step in understanding the universe was taken by Ronald Pearson [4]. Pearson's theory is based on the idea that when two kinds of primary particles are present, collisions and the exchange of energy between them cause the creation of a neuron-like structure. This theory has opened a new field for modeling and explaining so-called "paranormal" phenomena. The wave nature of our world, which is closely linked to Pearson's theory, can be used to explain the existence of parallel worlds. Such parallel worlds are material to the same degree as our sensed world is. This means that they have the same wave nature with the same (or similar) physical laws.
With this idea as a starting point, one can develop a physical, quantum mechanics model of the higher frequency, parallel (ethereal) world that is usually invisible for us.

The Model

Based on experimental evidence, the following main principles were used in the developing the physical model:
1)
The ethereal world is real and independent of our minds;
2)
It exists in our "SPACE" and in our "TIME";
3)
The ethereal world has the wave (field) nature;
4)
Ethereal bodies have a complex internal structure and consist of small elementary wave-particles;
5)
The geometrical sizes and energy values of etheric bodies are of the same order as ones in our part of the universe;
6)
The ethereal world is usually invisible for us and for our devices.

According to Pearson's theory, all energy in the universe is kinetic, and particles which have a non-zero rest mass consist of photon-like (or neutrino-like) particles with zero rest mass moving at the speed of light. The same conclusion was made by G. Shipov who developed the theory of the physical vacuum [5].

Let us consider the structure of a photon. A photon is a moving wave package consisting of N harmonic waves with close wavelengths, in a narrow interval of λ1 to λN, (or, equivalently, with close wave numbers k=2π/λ, from k1 to kN), with amplitudes A1, with total energy ε. Photons move at a constant velocity named the speed of light, c. This speed depends upon the properties of the medium in which the photon moves. For a given speed, c, the corresponding frequencies of wave harmonics can be found:
νi=ci=c×ki/2π  and  ωi=c×ki , i=1,...N (1)
The energy of the wave package can be found as follows:
 (2)
where s is the cross-section area of the wave package, A(0)=A1N is the amplitude of the package. As it can be seen from eq.(2), the energy of the wave package depends on geometrical parameters (ki and A) and does not depend on the speed, c, and frequencies, ωi. In the world with a certain speed of light, c, the energy of the package can be rewritten in the form:
 (3)
where   is the average, carrying frequency, , where h is Planck's constant,
 (4)
Since   is constant for all average frequencies of photons (as was found in experiments), it should be concluded that   for all photons, of any kind. Another consequence of eq.(4) is that   is inversely proportional to the speed of light, c, and that their product is constant:
 (5)
It should be noted that this product is very important because it determines the elementary electrical charge, e:
 (6)
Let us now assume that the speed of light depends on structure and properties of the medium (ether). According to Pearson's theory, the ether (or i-ther) is an inhomogeneous medium consisting of two kinds of particles moving with different velocities. In this case the wave package can be constructed from harmonic waves spreading in a sub-space of a certain type of particle. Spreading speeds of different wave packages can be different (in the same manner as speeds of sound waves in a solid consisting of several types of atoms). So we may assume that at least two kinds of photons exist, and the corresponding speeds of light, c1 and c2, may differ substantially:
 (7)
The geometry of the wave packages (an amplitude A(0) and bordering wave lengths, λ1 and λN) are determined by the geometry of  the ether network and can be assumed to be similar. In this case the energy and the size of packages (average wavelengths) are the same, but the Planck's constants are different:
 (8)
So, Planck's constant decreases with an increase in the speed of light. The carrying frequency of the wave package increases accordingly:
 (9)
According to the famous equation:
 (10)
photon mass is in inverse proportion to the square of the speed of light. Since the momentum of the photon is p=ε/c, increasing the speed of light leads to a decrease in the momentum:
 (11)
Thus, we have two kinds of photons, with the same range of energies and sizes, but with substantially different frequencies, momentums and masses, and moving with different speeds.
What now can be said about a particle consisting of photons or photon-like particles? Certainly, for such particles, previous statements about decreasing masses and increasing frequencies remain true. Take, for example, an electron with a non-zero resting mass. According to Pearson's theory, this mass is a sum of kinetic masses of photon-like particles forming this electron. Therefore its resting mass will obey the law of eq.(10). The resting energy of this electron, ε0e, is the same in both worlds as well as its Compton's radius:
 (12)
According to quantum mechanics, every moving particle has wave properties. The corresponding wavelength is determined by the de Broglie relation λ=h/p=h/mv, where m is the mass of the particle and v is its velocity. The frequency of the particle, f, is given by the relation f=Wkin/h, where Wkin is the kinetic energy (usual meaning) of the particle. Wave behavior of electrons manifests itself, for example, in such phenomena as diffraction of electrons passing through metal film. However, these are probability waves, and diffraction patterns are the result of statistics. Statistical behavior of particles (described by quantum mechanics) is connected with their space extent: a particle can be considered as a wave package of harmonic waves. This package can be described as a quantum liquid drop with infinite degrees of freedom [6,7]. By the way, all particles have a field, wave nature, but real lengths of harmonic waves forming the particle are determined by relations similar to eq.(12) and not by the de Broglie relation.
Assuming that typical energies of free elementary particles in both cases have the same order we may conclude that typical frequencies of particles in the second world (we'll name this the ethereal world) are much higher than ones in our first, "physical" world:
 (13)
This is true for all elementary particles (electrons, protons, neutrino, etc.): typical frequencies of the moving elementary particles increase proportionally to the speed of light and their masses decrease proportionally to the square of the light speed.
New electrons, protons and neutrons may form new atoms in the second world. Since the elementary charge, e, does not change (see eq.(6)), the geometrical structure of atoms is conserved. For example, Bohr radius, which determines the hydrogen atom size, does not change:
 (14)
This is true also for the Bohr magneton, which determines the magnetic properties of elementary particles and atoms:
 (15)
Energy levels and the radii of the circular orbits of the electron in the hydrogen atom are computed by the formulas:
 (16)
 (17)
As can be seen, they are the same in both worlds.
An atom can absorb a discrete portion (quantum) of electromagnetic energy (photon) equal to the difference between the levels of energy in spectrum (16) if an electron "jumps" from a closer orbit to a farther one. An excited atom radiates a photon when an electron returns to a closer orbit from a farther one. The magnitude of the emitted or absorbed quantum of energy, ωk, is given by the condition:
 (18)
The same conditions hold valid for many-electron atoms.
So, the energy spectrum of electromagnetic waves - photons - emitted and absorbed by atoms in our world and in the supposed ethereal one is the same. But the frequency spectrums are different:
 (19)
This is most likely the main reason for the fact that we cannot sense or record the electromagnetic waves from the ethereal world with our devices: photons emitted by ethereal atoms have appropriate energies, but much higher frequencies. An atom as an oscillatory system can absorb energy of the waves with resonance frequencies only. This means that our atoms cannot absorb photons emitted by analogous ethereal atoms. On the other hand, ethereal photons with appropriate (low) frequencies (created, for example, during braking of ethereal electrons) may be absorbed by our atoms, but they have too little energy (because of small Planck's constant) in comparison with "our" photons, and transfer less momentum than "our" photons by a factor of n2.  This makes it difficult to recognize them in the total signal.
Thus, the parallel, ethereal world has the following features:
1)
The speed of light is much higher, than in our world, eq.(7);
2)
Typical frequencies of elementary particles (photons, electrons, protons, neutrino, etc.,) are much higher than the corresponding ones in our world, eqs.(9), (13), (19);
3)
Planck's constant is much smaller, eq.(8);
4)
Masses of elementary particles as well as atoms are much smaller, eq.(10);
5)
Elementary charge is the same, eq.(6);
6)
The structure of atoms: size, geometry and energy spectrum of atoms are the same as in our world;
7)
Ethereal solid, liquid and gaseous matter can be formed from ethereal atoms in the same manner as in our world;
8)
Ethereal photons as well as the other ethereal elementary particles are invisible to us because of their high frequencies; this is true also for ethereal atoms and for solid matter built from these atoms.
The last statement should be considered the most carefully because of its great importance. It is based on the assumption that the world has a fully wave nature, and all elementary particles are constructed from photon-like or neutrino-like particles with zero rest mass. In this case, two different wave objects may occupy the same place. They influence each other, leading to an interference picture, only in the case where their frequencies are similar. In the quantum mechanics language the condition for mutual influence of atoms is the appropriate frequencies of the electromagnetic fields carried by the photons which are absorbed and emitted by those atoms.
In ordinary life we feel surrounding things due to electromagnetic interaction between our own atoms (in our eyes, skin, and neurons, for example) and photons emitted by atoms of surrounding bodies. Since our atoms cannot absorb photons emitted by ethereal atoms, the ethereal world is invisible to us.
The second type of interaction we have with surrounding bodies is gravitational. We feel the attraction of the Earth, and most likely the main reason for our need of energy is the necessity to overcome the force of gravitation. It is interesting to note that the evolution of life on Earth can be considered as a history of struggle for food that, in turn, is required for the energy needed to overcome gravitation! All our digestive, blood and respiratory systems are needed to provide energy for muscle systems - again - to overcome gravitation!
In the supposed ethereal world, the gravitational forces are very weak. Actually, the gravitational force between two bodies, , is proportional to the product of their masses, m1m2, and in the ethereal world it will be n4 times less than the force between analogous bodies in the our world. For example, if n=100, .  It means that living etherians, if they exist, don't need energy to overcome gravitational attraction.
What would life be like in the ethereal world? We may suppose that etherians have no problems with food because they don't need nearly as much energy as Earth people. They may possibly receive appropriate chemical energy (mainly for brain and nervous activity) immediately from electromagnetic fields (fluxes of ethereal photons) and neutrino flows. If so, they don't need digestive and blood systems, nor a respiratory system. They can move very quickly because of the absence of gravitational forces and atmosphere resistance, small mass and high light velocity. So, they have no problems with territory and do not struggle for their existence. At least, not in the same way as in our world.
Can we interact with this world? Might there exist a number of parallel worlds with different constants c and ? These are interesting questions...

Parallel Ethereal World and the Principle of Relativity

According to the Special Theory of Relativity, we live in a 4-dimensional world in which three coordinates are spatial, and the forth one is connected with time, t, and should be taken in the form (ict), where c is the light velocity and i is the imaginary unit. In this space every material body or system has a 4-dimensional energy-momentum vector, (cpx, cpy, cpz, imc2). The square of this vector is invariant for all inertial (that is, non-accelerated) frames of reference:
 (20)
If, for example, a frame of reference is connected with the particle moving along axis X with the velocity v, coordinates and momentums in this new reference are connected with ones in the initial frame of reference by the Lorentz relations:
 (21)
The speed of light, c, is the same for all such frames of reference, independent of the motion of the observer, and it is the maximum possible velocity for all material bodies in our world.
Special theory of relativity does not consider, however, the possibility of relative motion along the forth, time-axis. Our world can be considered as moving along this axis with the speed of light.
Let us introduce a new frame of reference which moves along the time-axis with the speed c1. Coordinate transformation which conserves a square of energy-momentum vector is given by:
 (22)
The last equation requires also the change of masses:
 (23)
that exactly coincides with eqs.(10). In this case the square of energy-momentum vector is invariant of the transformation (22):
 (24)
Velocities of a body in the new and the old frames of reference are connected by the relation:
 (25)
So, we obtained the same results as previously, eqs.(10), (11). The new result is the change in the rate of time: with increasing the light velocity the rate of time decreases. But what is the physical meaning of time?
We use time to characterize: a) space transference of material objects; b) the rate of processes such as transformations of elementary particles, nuclear and chemical reactions. Transference in space is characterized by the product (v×t). According to eqs. (22) and (25), this product does not change:
 (26)
As about nuclear and chemical reactions as well as transformations of elementary particles, their rates, apparently, are also connected with the light velocity in the given frame of reference, namely, they are proportional to it. If K is the rate of a certain reaction in the system with the light velocity c, and K1 is the rate of the same reaction in the system with the light velocity c1, the following equality can be assumed:
 (27)
and the quantity of the reaction products does not change. By this means the slow down of the rate of time is compensated by acceleration of all processes with increasing the light velocity. As a result, all processes, including vital activity, occur in the same manner, in both frames of reference, in accordance with General Principle of Relativity.
The principle of relativity, in the most general form, including acceleration and rotation of frames of reference, was taken into account by G. Shipov in his theory of physical vacuum [5]. Shipov's vacuum equations have allowed the General Theory of Relativity to be combined with electrodynamics and with quantum field theory. It turned out that these equations do not contain any universal constants such as light velocity, Planck's constant or elementary electrical charge. Certain combinations of these constants should be introduced into the equations. Using a certain velocity of light, c, Shipov determines a density of matter as following [5]:
 (28)
where Tim is the energy-momentum tensor, gim is the metric tensor. Transformation of the coordinate frame of reference (22) conserves the value of T, so the density of matter is inversely proportional to the square of light velocity, in accordance with our assumption (23). So, an existence of material systems with a different velocity of light does not contradict the General Principle of Relativity used in the theory of physical vacuum [5].

Existence of the Second Body

According to many religious doctrines, and in the views of many parapsychologists, mediums and extrasensors, we possess a second body, or soul, which leaves our physical body at the moment of death. Some people have recounted that they saw themselves from above while in the state of clinical death.
Let us assume that we really possess a second body that exists in the parallel ethereal world. Let us also assume that this second body is an exact (or almost exact) copy of our first, "physical" body: it consists of analogous atoms, molecules, cells, organs, a brain and nervous systems. What should be the mass of this body? According to eq.(10),
 (29)
There is some evidence that at the moment of death the weight of the human body decreases by several grams. If we associate this decrease with the release of the second body, it can be used to evaluate n. For example, if Mbody=80kg and ΔM=Msecond=2g, . Unfortunately, the data for weight decrease is not reliable because the weight may decrease for a number of different reasons. But it gives us a principal possibility to evaluate n and correspondingly the speed of light in the ethereal world.
The statement that the second body is tightly bound to the "physical" body and leaves it during death leads to the following conclusions:
1)
Our two worlds may interact:
a) change in weight manifests gravitational interaction of an ethereal body with the Earth;
b) attractive interaction between our ethereal and "physical" bodies, Fet-ph, exists;
2)
The force of interaction Fet-ph depends on vital functions of our body:
when they cease or fall off substantially, this force vanishes (or weakens, as in the case of clinical death);
3)
This is a long-range interaction:
the second body may return to the "physical" one if the latter resumes its vital functions.
The existence of this force of interaction can be connected with energy flows both in our physical body and in the second body while we are alive. However, this will be the subject of future work.

Conclusions

The invisible part of the universe has a physical structure similar to the world we sense: the matter is built from atoms, which, in turn, are constructed from nucleons and electrons, with the same elementary electrical charge. The size, structure and energy spectrum of ethereal atoms and presently detected atoms are the same.
The ethereal world is invisible to us because of different "universal" constants such as the speed of light, c, and Planck's constant, h, while their product, c×h, which determines the elementary charge, is conserved. The ethereal speed of light is much higher than the one in our world, and Planck's constant is much smaller. This leads to higher frequencies in the ethereal elementary particles, and in particular, photons, which realize the electromagnetic interaction between atoms. Our atoms cannot absorb ethereal photons, and the ethereal world remains invisible to us.
There apparently exists gravitational interaction between the ethereal world and our world, but this interaction is very small because of the very small masses of ethereal bodies.

SURVIVAL PHYSICS: A Brief Summary

R.D. Pearson BSc., C.Eng.M.I. Mech.E
March 5, 2003

Introduction

Quite a number of people have realised that quantum theory must link with evidence proving the continued existence of consciousness following death of the brain. The most recent contribution of this nature I have seen is the excellent article The Quantum Marriage, by Will Hand (1). He shows, for example, that quantum theorists were driven to accept that on the small scale of the atom, what we interpret as "reality" only occurs at the instant of observation. This is the so-called Copenhagen interpretation of a phenomenon called "wave-particle duality": an important feature of quantum theory. Quantum theorists found that, on these small scales, what had been regarded as minute objects, the electrons, photons and other components associated with atoms, seemed to exist as sets of interfering waves until observed. Only then did these waves "collapse" to become real particles. The extraordinary situation, which has prevailed for nearly a century is that, despite the clear acceptance of the role of consciousness in creating reality, all mainstream scientists still insist that consciousness vanishes on brain death. The obvious paradox, which is never mentioned, is that matter could not exist prior to any brain! The development of quantum theory has, therefore, already proved that some form of consciousness had to pre-exist the creation of matter. Yet scientists, across every discipline, go to immense trouble to discredit all evidence showing that consciousness can exist independently of matter. Most enlightened people, like Hand, have had personal experience demonstrating to them that at least some so-called, "paranormal" experiences have to be real phenomena and cannot be explained away by delusion or fraud as most scientists and parapsychologists insist must be the case. Then some of the enlightened seek explanations from twentieth century physics. This is perfectly sensible and reasonable but is not the way my own contribution came into being. I started without any intention of considering survival or any other aspects of the paranormal. I had simply started to take an interest in physics as it stood. Then in 1984, I realised something was wrong with the logic associated with the "big bang" theory. This has it that all the energy and matter of the universe was created in a gigantic explosion taking only a split second. From then on the total substance of the universe, its energy plus matter, remained constant and, being pulled back by mutual gravity, the flying debris would decelerate ever afterwards.
Flaws in the logic had led directly to a huge false prediction called the "Cosmological Constant". This says that the universe is expanding at rates many billions of billions of times faster than astronomical observations could possibly allow and theorists, to this day, still look for a resolution to this problem. What is also extraordinary is that theorists simply ignore this huge false prediction and yet claim that the big bang theory is fully supported by all the observations they have made!
I realised that I ought to be able to create a flaw-free alternative theory capable of eliminating the difficulty, using the expertise of my own discipline. I soon found some other difficulties in need of resolution and so treated them all simultaneously as a single holistic problem. The solution, which began to appear in a few years, showed me that the paranormal and survival of consciousness must be real and true: an integral part of what I think of as an enlightened physics. Not until then did I embark on a search for evidence and did so by joining a circle for psychic development. This was run by two mediums, Victor and Barbara Iles. I soon had all the evidence I needed to support the theory. Then in 1988, I met Michael Roll who showed me the powerful published scientific literature of Crookes, Lodge and other scientists, showing me how this evidence, amounting to the total proof of survival, had all been suppressed and discredited by other scientists and parapsychologists who had perceived it all as a threat to existing paradigms.
Hence, to me, survival appeared as unexpected spin-off from an effort made to solve physical problems. It is therefore my opinion that this approach supplies a much greater credibility than one which merely attempts to fit existing quantum theory to survival fact, especially when the flaws in that theory are not eliminated.

Survival Physics in a Nutshell

The other main problem needing resolution was a theory of gravity compatible with quantum theory. Einstein's theory called "general relativity", a mathematically very accurate description of the way matter behaves on the large cosmic scale, is still accepted to be the best in existence. Unfortunately, as all physicists freely admit, it just does not match in with quantum theory. They have been trying for nearly 80 years to match these two so-called "pillars of twentieth century achievement" and success still evades them. I will summarise my own final solution which gives mostly the same end equations as general relativity, eliminates the difficulty of the cosmological constant and then shows how an ultimate immortal consciousness must exist as part of an invisible background medium.
It seemed to me that the trouble with Einstein's theory was that the assumptions on which it was based made it incompatible with the existence of any background medium, such as the old aether. The latter was discredited about 1900 and is still regarded as non-existent, yet something like it is needed if quantum theory is to make sense. Therefore the assumptions of relativity needed modification. This is something theorists still will not accept since, in effect, this means the abandonment of relativity theory.
Newton's mechanics seemed the only alternative but is restricted to low speeds. Revision therefore seemed necessary to make it exact. I found that the mass of an object needed to be regarded as variable instead of remaining constant as Newton had assumed. A background medium had to exist and had to be more compressed the closer the approach to a massive object: the density of the aether had to be variable. This variable density, coupled with the variable mass, gave the same predictions as general relativity but offered the huge advantage of being fully quantum compatible.
Although mostly the same end equations appeared, they had a different meaning and interpretation. For example, as most people know, a clock situated at a low level in a gravitational field runs slow due to Einstein's concept of "gravitational time dilation": time itself runs slower at a lower level. For the revised Newtonian time runs at the same rate everywhere but there is a gravitational mass increase with reduction of level and this reduces the frequency of vibration of the clock mechanism.
The same revised Newtonian then needed to be applied to study the background medium, assumed to operate on similar mechanics but in such a manner as to explain the peculiarities of quantum theory. In effect this mechanics was being assumed to apply both on large cosmological scales and at a sub-quantum level of reality. The hope was that the peculiarities at the quantum level would emerge as a natural consequence.
First the problem of the cosmological constant needed to be addressed. The only way the revised mechanics could provide a solution was by making a further revision. A mirror mechanics had to be added having all masses and energy values considered negative. Then the background medium, I now call the "i-ther", had to consist of a mixture of particles, some made of positive energy and with the remainder of a negative kind. Then both kinds could be created or destroyed in balance because the changes would cancel out. To understand what this entails it is easiest to think of the energy form known as mechanical work. An object is pushed a given distance and the work done is obtained by multiplying the pushing force by the distance it moves. If the object is free to move it will accelerate, so absorbing the work done and turning it into energy of motion: kinetic energy. (This also adds a "kinetic mass" causing a mass increase according to the revised Newtonian.)
If now the energy from which the object is made is considered negative then a backward facing force will cause it to accelerate. So negative mechanical work is converted to negative kinetic energy and there will be an associated increase of negative mass. There is nothing peculiar about such negative mass and energy. We could do all our mechanics on these assumptions and get all the same responses because the negative effects always come in pairs and cancel out.
The really new feature, however, is that now both kinds of energy, considered complementary to one another like the Yin and Yang of Eastern philosophies, are considered to co-exist. They have to form a mixture of fast moving "primaries" in constant collision with one another like the molecules of a gas. Collisions of primaries of the same energies were just like those of billiard balls. For evaluating responses of unlike kinds, however, it was necessary to extend the mechanics by introducing what I call, "Opposed Energy Dynamics". Just as in ordinary mechanics it is necessary to consider two conservation laws together: those of energy and momentum. Applied to opposite energies in collision, however, responses turned out to be very different from those between like kinds.
An astonishing mathematical discovery emerged. At each collision of opposites, the need to conserve momentum forced each primary to gain energy. They were breeding like opposite sexes! Each of the collision partners gained energy of its own kind in balanced amounts. It meant that pure creation could spontaneously arise from a void of nothingness! This meant the i-ther could spontaneously appear from nothing and grow at an ever accelerating and extremely rapid rate, both in volume and density. Fortunately at a critical density instability would arise allowing flow patterns on a minute scale to appear. Primaries would be pushed by the pure creation going on behind them so that they flowed in large numbers to common centres from all directions. The conditions for almost total mutual annihilation had appeared so that only a minute net creation could remain.
A solution to the cosmological constant had appeared naturally! The i-ther would be committed to a modest ever-accelerating growth and, after matter had appeared, the universe of matter would be carried along so that it too would expand in a similar way. This prediction was not finalised until 1992 but I thought no way would ever be found for checking this prediction. However, in 1998 astronomical observations of very distant supernovae, published by Schwartzchild (2), confirmed that indeed the universe was expanding at an accelerating rate: so lending fortuitous support to the theory. Cosmologists on the other hand were taken by surprise and are still trying to explain the effect in terms of dark energy with strange repulsive powers.
The centres of annihilation are most stable as filaments existing in bundles but on larger scales these bundles have random orientation. Switch-like T-junctions appear as filaments try to cross each other. Also the cell-like structures of breeding cylinders, with filaments of annihilation at their centres, act like tiny engines producing power. This power can only be expressed in the form of waves of switching action as one switch, in changing state, triggers the next. A fluid component of breeding primaries bathes the filaments and so forms an additional medium for wave propagation. A source for quantum waves seems to have appeared! In addition the filaments seem to have the potential for evolving a brain-like structure: a background neural net. Hence my speculation is that consciousness evolved at the level of i-ther long before matter appeared.
At some point this consciousness developed a creative urge and built an interpenetrating system of universes of matter as a means of providing meaningful habitats for minds. Each mind would be a fragment of the i-theric consciousness, separated from the rest by information filter barriers.
The only tools available for building such matter systems were the quantum waves. Hence a perfect reason for the strange wave-particle nature of matter seemed to have appeared. To make what we infer to be a sub-atomic particle, waves had to be focused. At any focal point a transient spike of density in the i-ther would be generated to represent that particle and it would behave as such in collision with others built the same way. Then to make say, an electron, such focusing would need to be repeated very rapidly with places chosen by the i-ther using its own kind of computational mathematics. Any "particle" would really be a train of repeated creations joined end to end in time but not in position. The train of positions would be so chosen as to make it appear as if controlled be an electromagnetic force. Similar positioning would make the nuclei of atoms seem controlled by a strong nuclear force. Hence the forces, seeming so real to us, now appear as abstract mathematical constructs. Matter cannot be as real as it appears: true reality lies in the invisible, in the real energies at the level of i-ther.
This model, worked out in detail, provided a new and paradox free interpretation for both wave-particle duality and non-locality.
As each wave passed the focal point, to make a sub-atomic particle, it then started to spread out again travelling ultimately to infinite distance. As it went it caused increase in the collision of primaries and so stimulated excess creation. This mechanism was studied in detail and found to provide a satisfactory explanation for the variable density needed to create a satisfactory theory of gravity. The "quantum-wave theory of gravity" had appeared and seems every bit as good in predictive power as general relativity.

Conclusion

From a start made to solve a difficulty in the big bang theory, consciousness has been shown to have the potential of being immortal. If the brain is conscious as well, it cannot be the primary one. The latter must still remain after the brain has died.
It is my hope that, since survival can be shown an essential and integral part of physics, that the efforts still being made to discredit all evidence of survival will soon come to an end. This theory has achieved publication in Russian conference proceedings (3 & 4) of 1991 and 1993, and in the peer-reviewed journal "Frontier Perspectives" (5) in 1997. Two books by Pearson (6 & 7) provide further detail. Furthermore the theory was supported by Dr Peter Wadhams, Professor of Ocean Physics at Cambridge University, on the Jeff Rense Progam (8) in 2001. At least he said that a theory of this kind had to apply. Other details can be found on the websites of The Campaign for Philosophical Freedom (9) and The International Survivalist Society (10).

Summary of Ron Pearson's Theory

Summary of Ron Pearson's Theory

by Rory MacDonald
In order to understand how Ron Pearson's work can explain psychic phenomena we must first look at his theory for how the Universe began.
The current Big Bang theory, whereby the Universe was created from out of a massive explosion, contains some major flaws and inconsistencies. The biggest of these is something called the cosmological constant.
This cosmological constant is a mathematical figure that arose from the failure to explain how this initial explosion could be shut off. It predicts an expansion of the Universe that is many billions of times too high. The figure was needed to give space an inbuilt tendency to expand in order to overcome the natural tendency for it to collapse due all the matter in it and its gravitational pull. Now that we know that the Universe is expanding at an ever-increasing rate, this constant is exceptionally large and cosmologists have all but chosen to ignore it. They have also ignored evidence that some stars seem to be older than the age of the Universe itself. The Big Bang has been estimated to be around 12 billion years old and some stars seem to be much older. Something is clearly not quite right.
In the light of these and other flaws, Ron Pearson, with his background as a University lecturer on Thermodynamics and fluid mechanics decided that a new theory was needed. At the heart of the original theory was one of the biggest dilemmas facing physicists today - How to combine the mathematics of Quantum physics and those of Relativity. This is what Ron has sought to conquer.
Quantum theory is essentially about the movement of things on the extremely small atomic scale. Things at this size seem to move in random and indeterminate ways. Relativity on the other hand is Einstein's theory for how things move on the very large scale. On this scale objects move in a much more predictable manner like planets orbiting the Sun.
For over 80 years Mathematicians have assumed that Einstein was right because nearly all subsequent observations have matched his theories. So in those 80 years they have all attempted to redefine quantum theory so that it could include relativity and especially general relativity, which is Einstein's theory of gravity. Unfortunately they have not succeeded in doing this and in the process have spent billions of pounds of taxpayers money.
Ron however decided to accept the excellent maths found in quantum theory and to go back and revisit Einstein's work. If Ron's theory could also match up with the same observational data that had seemed to confirm Einstein's theories, then his theory could also be valid. If it also contained no flaws or inconsistencies then it could even become a better theory. Interestingly enough Ron found that Einstein's well known formula of E=MC2 could be derived from Newtonian Mechanics without reference to relativity but it now showed that matter was really made out of energy. In Ron's theory this is exactly what happens.
This thought that Relativity might be totally wrong may seem heretical to modern day cosmologists but even Einstein, on his 70th birthday, wrote to a friend saying that he was not at all confident that his work would stand the test of time and that he might have been on the wrong track after all.
Ron went back to the physics of Sir Isaac Newton and applied what he called 'Conceptual Logic' to the problem. After many years and long hours of work he finally came up with a new theory that matched all of Relativity's observational data and also contained no internal flaws. To do this though he had to be highly controversial. He chucked out Relativity altogether. There was no curved space-time. There were no multi dimensional universes and there was no constant speed of light.
His theory begins with two forms of energy called positive and negative primaries. These he likens to the Yin and the Yang found in Eastern philosophy. Like the old theory before the Big Bang, these are created from a Zero state of Energy. Negative Energy, although mainly unheard of, was not new. It was something that was first proposed by Paul Dirac, a Cambridge Maths Professor. It was discarded shortly afterwards however possibly because it didn't fit in with Einstein's relativity. This problem though doesn't arise now.
Ron found negative mass and energy needed to exist to permit a universe to arise in such a way as to eliminate the problem of the cosmological constant. The secret of the success in his new theory is found in the way these two opposite energies collide with each other.
When pairs of primaries collide Ron found that the laws of mechanics predicted that each partner would, in general, gain energy of its own kind. There is nothing strange about the behaviour of negative energies or masses on their own. Neither is there with positive kinds on their own. However it is the mixing of the two kinds of primary that causes the new strange effects to arise. For centuries it has been accepted that 'energy can neither be created or destroyed'. When positive and negative energies coexist, however, this has to be revised to read 'energy can only be created or destroyed in equal and opposite amounts'. Both creation and annihilation are now permitted but another law of motion has to be applied to find which possibility is selected under the conditions being studied. This is known as the need to conserve momentum. (Momentum is obtained by multiplying the mass of an object with its velocity).
To understand this, one can begin to imagine two billiard balls colliding off centre. We all know that the two balls move off in a predictable sideways and diagonal manner. When ordinary billiard balls collide each has its momentum, measured in the original directions of motion, drastically changed and no energy change overall can arise.
This however does not occur when one of the primaries carries negative momentum. When the same angle of collision occurs the two balls move off in the same sideways direction! When these balls of opposite energy collide, neither can alter their momentum as measured in the original directions. However, scattering collisions add extra transverse momenta in such a way that they balance. This means that each partner will gain momentum of its own kind and this cannot occur without associated increases of energy. This energy must appear from nothing! Ron calls this a 'breeding' of the energies.
Both velocity and momentum can be represented on a diagram by 'vectors'. These are lines of a length proportional to speed or mass times speed respectively and drawn in the direction of motion of the object being represented, as shown in Figure 1.

Positive and Negative Primaries

Positive and Negative Primaries travel towards each other off centre.

Collision occurs.
3.
Both primaries move off to the same side! Therefore a sideways momentum has been added from nothing.
4.
Positive and negative momentum are both conserved and the additional transverse momenta (PR+ & PR-) balance each other out.
5.
The opposing directions of the transverse momenta (PR- and PR+) require associated transverse velocities (VR- & VR+) to be added in the same sideways direction.
As a consequence of repeated collisions, energy is annihilated in some cases, but overall there is a net increase. This goes on and levels increase until a critical density level is reached. It is at this point that annihilation can also occur and a solid filament of energy is produced where the primaries are in the process of mutual annihilation. These are surrounded by regions where energies are still being created by collision-breeding.
Annihilation does not totally cancel the creation going on so a tiny net creation remains everywhere in space. It is this that explains the continuing expansion of the Universe at an ever-accelerating rate. New galaxies need to be created near to the outer regions of space all the time. It seems likely these are the intense gamma ray bursts that happen about once per day.
With this basis of expansion, Ron has estimated the Universe's more exact age to be around 100 Billion years old. Well old enough for the oldest stars observed to have had time to form.
All this breeding and production of filaments continues to produce a three-dimensional filamentous grid structure. This is similar to the brains 'neural network' of brain cells. Energy can now travel in waves down the filaments that are in turn either connected or unconnected to further filaments at their ends. With open and closed connections, a vast switching system resulted that, like super computers, developed the characteristics of consciousness and intelligence.
Ron calls this the i-ther, an intelligent form of background medium. In the past, background mediums like the solid Ether, have been dismissed by physicists as relativity and observational data didn't allow for their existence. Now however, Ron with his strong background in fluid mechanics made a great leap of intuition. He considered that the i-ther must behave like a superfluid in vapour form. A superfluid, like liquid helium, exhibits completely frictionless characteristics permitting unrestricted flow through the grid of the filaments. This now allows the past observational data to coexist comfortably with his new theory.
The waves generated by the action of the filaments move through the fluid and are identified as 'quantum waves' of the i-ther. These were then used to produce particles of matter. Ron envisaged that these interacting waves were producing spikes of intense energy rather like interacting ripples on a pond produce spikes of water. These spikes of energy created the impression of matter particles like electrons. These would occur in a sequence in time but not always in the same location. Once particles had been created, the conventional physics of today could then go on to explain the rest of the creation of the stars and the planets in the Universe.
-------------
What is of interest to us in our quest to understand psychic phenomena is that these particles of matter will have specific frequencies and will only appear real to us on our particular frequency of matter. With several possible frequencies of quantum wave, several matter systems could arise all from the same underlying grid. It is this grid and its primaries that are the only real thing in the Universe. All of these matter systems are illusory constructs made up by the i-ther. The system we live in just seems real to us.
With all this creation of matter what results is a net positive balance of energies within matter itself, like the stars and the planets, and these are surrounded by haloes of net negative energy.
The waves that produce matter also produce long range gradients that makes the i-ther seem more compressed near large objects. Negative pressures follow these same gradients and produce a buoyancy type of force on any matter. This is the mechanism of the gravitational force according to the 'quantum wave theory of gravity'. This effect exactly matches the observational data used to previously prove Einstein's Theory of Relativity. Now they can also prove Ron's theories. Ron's theories though also have the added benefit of doing away with the ridiculous cosmological constant.
With this basic understanding of his work, we can now go on to explain subjects like survival after death. As subjects of matter ourselves, we experience the world around us as real. However matter is composed of mainly space with subatomic particles like electrons in between. What we see as real is actually just the illusion of matter created by the filamentous grid and the i-ther at that particular frequency. Our minds are not brain function, they are isolated regions of the i-ther itself, the seats of consciousness.
Perceptual barriers have evolved in our heads to stop us being harmed by the incredible computing power and knowledge of the i-ther. However when we die, our matter system ceases and our minds, which in Ron's theory are completely separate from our brains, live on within the i-ther and interact with some new construct of matter system at a different frequency. This would explain all the evidence found showing that we survive after death.
In the same way the i-.ther and its 3-D filamentous grid can also explain how healers heal people. It would appear that a healer has less of a perceptual barrier in their heads and can communicate more directly with the Universal consciousness. As the i-ther constructs matter and as it has huge computational power and memory, it could easily be programmed to reconstruct a persons matter system in a more effective and healthy manner. Healers may also get help in doing this by working alongside people on different matter systems with different wavelengths. Together, their ability to tap into the programming power of the grid, and the overlying i-ther, could enable a person to become a new and better matter system. This could even happen over a long distance.
The speed of propagation of information is no longer limited, as in relativity, by the speed of light. Indeed it can travel instantly along the filaments. With two people being able to lower and focus their perceptual grid barriers, telepathy could result. The better people are at lowering their inhibitory barriers, the more psychic they are and the better they could be at it. Ron has already shown that it might be possible to communicate at speeds of ten times the currently considered constant speed of light via the fluid alone.
Mind over matter, like bending spoons, can also be explained with Ron's theory. As the grid creates matter as an illusion, tapping into the grid by lowering our barriers should allow us to recreate this illusion. Of course this then appears to us as real.
As with all good theorists, Ron has devised eight experiments that can be easily undertaken that will prove or disprove his theory. The cheapest of these costs around £15,000 (way beyond Ron's budget) and others involve experiments done in space. It is now only a matter of time before the world will know if he is right. If he is, and at the moment it is looking odds on, he will severely upset the scientific establishment. To be a true scientist is to be truth seeker, unfortunately positions of power and the fear of peer review close the minds that once were previously open. In the years that Ron has been trying to put forward his theories for discussion and publication he has witnessed all these things.
Finding no one daring to publish his papers in this country, Ron has had to address his scientific audience in Europe and Russia. Here his theories were given time and print and it was here that he received great accolades for them. For now though it is up to you to draw your own conclusions.
