Telegraph Pole Mast - Luton Road, Wilstead, Bedfordshire, UK
N 52° 04.448 W 000° 26.994
30U E 674762 N 5772352
This telegraph pole is definitely a mobile phone mast. It is common in the UK to disguise phone masts in this manner to blend them into the natural surroundings.
Location: Eastern England, United Kingdom
Upon inspection it is clear that the outer shell is plastic and no wood is apparent anywhere on it. The design is made like this to look like telegraph poles which are found in most villages, towns and locations across the UK. Telegraph poles carry telephone wires across the roads to properties everywhere. In Australia it is common to have telegraph poles constructed of Eucalyptus trees but in the UK they are Pine trees. This however is not a telegraph pole as it is a mobile phone mast disguised as one. Due to the lack of branches, twigs and foliage there can be no uncertainty that it is a tree as there are no known species of tree in the UK which look like this naturally. It is a very clever way to disguise a telephone mast and works most effectively.
